Antenatal Services

Albury Wodonga Antenatal Services

What makes us so different to other care providers in the community?

At Albury Wodonga Midwifery Services you will see the same midwife for the majority of your antenatal visits. This means that you will get consistent advice and information and your midwife will be familiar with your history and your preferences for your care.

This will result in well planned personalised care for each patient and their families that in turn results in greater patient satisfaction and better birth outcomes.

You will have your midwife’s personal contact details for any urgent questions or queries, helping to minimise any anxiety and allowing you to enjoy your pregnancy.

We allow up to 45 mins for each of your appointments. This is 2 to 3 times longer than you will get at other clinics. It allows plenty of time for education, discussion of test results and ensures all of your questions are answered.

We can also write any basic prescriptions, pathology and ultrasound requests, medical certificates and any referrals that may be necessary. We are able to collect certain pathology samples on site.

Appointments are also available for pre-conception advice.

Labour and Birth Support

What happens when baby is ready to make an entrance?

As a client of Albury Wodonga Midwifery Services, you will have the option to have your known midwife attend your labour and birth with you. This means that you can contact us at any time of the day or night when your labour starts, we will guide you through the early stages of labour over the phone and decide together when it is time to go to the hospital.

Our families tend to stay at home longer in early labour, spend less time in hospital and require fewer medical interventions.  Once it is time to go to the hospital, we will meet you at the maternity ward, help you to get settled into the birth suite and stay with you for the duration of your labour, however long or short that may be.

You will have a familiar and trusted carer to advocate for you and to keep your birth space quiet, calm and private. We can give you guidance on labour and birth options and help you to navigate any decisions that need to made. We can even be the runner for ice water, heat packs, snacks and warm compresses! We will help you utilise different positions during labour that may facilitate a better birthing outcome.

The hospital midwives will take care of all the monitoring, documentation and technicalities of your care which leaves us free to focus on you.  If or when your hospital midwives change at the end of their shift, we will be your constant.
