About
Barb Roberts

I began my career as a nurse in 1993 and after my first child I followed my passion into midwifery. I completed my Master of Midwifery in 1999. I have worked in several hospitals across Australia. Then in 2015, I opened my own private midwifery practice after becoming an Endorsed Midwife.

With 21 years of midwifery experience I have and always will strive to give my clients options of care. My passion is to help my patients achieve the birth they want. This is achieved by means of education, nurturing and empowering women. I support individuals’ choices and provide full continuity of care. Immense joy comes from offering my services to families and being about to walk their pregnancy, birthing and postnatal journey with them. It is truly an honour. Then they come back for the next baby and we just pick up from where we left after the prior baby. It’s just like great friends catching up again.

I am a wife and a Mum of two beautiful children. In my spare time I enjoy water sports. I love camping and spending quality time with my family and friends. My family and friends are my world and certainly could not of pursued my career and passion without their loving support.

I’m an endorsed midwife based in the Albury Wodonga region with over 16 years of experience in the field. Most of my career has been hospital based with a focus on antenatal and intrapartum care. While I found my niche in birth suite caring for labouring ladies, I’ve worked through all areas of care including postnatal care, extensive experience with the midwife care program and providing antenatal parenting and birth classes. My experiences includes 12 months based in the UK, with time spent in a neonatal high dependency unit in a major hospital in Edinburgh and stints in special care nurseries across London.

On a personal note, I am extremely blessed to be the mother of one child, a beautiful daughter. She has taught me many life lessons, some took me longer to learn than others but I am so very grateful for each and every one of them.

While I enjoy the often fast paced and sometimes challenging environment of a hospital birth suite setting, I have found that for me true job satisfaction comes with the sense of community that continuity of care can provide. The ability to really get to know clients and their families and having the time to provide high quality education and guidance is what will make the biggest impact for new and expanding families.

I’m an Endorsed Midwife newly located to the Albury Wodonga region. For the past seven years I have been working in a large hospital in metro Melbourne across several midwifery specialty areas, including the emergency department, birth suite, domiciliary care, antenatal & postnatal wards.

I have found the most rewarding role working in a continuity of care Midwifery model position, supporting a case load of women through the whole journey to motherhood.

I am passionate about giving women and families a known and consistent care provider throughout the entirety of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.

I’m a big believer in the importance of my patients feeling educated, informed and empowered during this time.

My move to private Midwifery in a regional setting is an exciting one. I bring my enthusiasm  and clinical experience to the team, women and families I work with.
